The
FHI staff center is in the community of Lacuyo. The only road into
the communities is through Confital. The roads are dirt with potholes,
llamas, and burros to avoid. During the rainy season roads often
become impassable. The only vehicles that pass by on the road are
the occasional motorcycle and the large trucks that carry materials
and men to and from work areas. Challa Tambo is little more than
a ghost town and a crumbling reminder of the streams of traffic
that used to flow through these communities on their way to La Paz
or Cochabamba. |
