BIOGRAPHY:
Upon
graduating from high school in a town of 3,000 in Northeast Wisconsin,
I spent a year as a Rotary Exchange student. The experience gave
me such a love for the language that I decided to pursue it at college.
I attended the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh, earning a
BSE in Spanish (PK-12) and minoring in both ESL and Bilingual Education
(PK-12).
After graduating from UWO, I spent a year in a small town in Northwest
Minnesota, working with some missionaries to Mexican immigrants.
I met daily with a group of 7 teen girls, helping with homework,
leading a Bible study, going on outings, and simply sharing our
lives together. It was a rewarding experience and difficult to leave,
but the Lord has led me elsewhere.
REASON
FOR WORKING WITH FHI: I
loved FHI’s vision of working to end BOTH spiritual AND physical
hungers. I also liked the idea of simply being a resource, rather
than trying to impose my own culture and ideas on the people with
whom we work.
