NEWS FROM RODEO

The fields along the roadsides in Rodeo bloom purple after the rains as potato fields reach harvest time. Most residents of the altiplano communities pertaining to the Rodeo Zone are potato farmers and belong to families who have lived in the area for generations
.

Rodeo residents are decended from the Jalka culture. Traditional clothing is designed to convey a number of details about the person wearing it including age, marital status, and occupation. Festivals are numerous and extravagant affairs with ties both to the traditional worship of the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the more recently incorporated Catholicism.

Rodeo is a two hour drive from the city of Sucre. The following programs currently work in the zone: Income Generation, Natural Resources, and Health, Water & Sanitation. The Child Development Program will be entering within the next year.

More information on this zone will be available soon. Visit us again for the updates.
