FHI
Bolivia's zonal teams are the heart of its work. These staff members
live and work in the rural zones. Living conditions are often
poor and the work is intense. Below is information about each
member of the Tapacarí team.
Eloy
Program: Income Generation and Natural Resource
Management
Work Activities: Extension agriculture, crops,
construction and maintenance of silos
Extension animal husbandry: Farm animals, construction of animal
shelters
Natural Resource Management training
Reason for working with FHI: FHI is a good way
to reach people with both physical and spiritual food.
Ruben
Program: Health, Water & Sanitation
Work Activities: Training of health staff, community
health volunteers, and government health staff in the community.
Support for activities of the HWS program in the communities including
home visits, revision of reports and processes, etc.
Reason for working with FHI: I like to help those
in need. I can be a part of the development of rural communities
through health activities.
Valerio
Program: Health
Technical Assistant
Work Activities: Training and activities with groups
of women and children under the age of five.
Reason for working with FHI: To collaborate with
the people of the communities in order to teach God’s word
through my work.
Eugenia
Program: Child Development
Work Activities: Training of families, children,
and leaders, strengthening of churches through training church leaders,
etc.
Reason for working with FHI: I enjoy serving and
always hoped that God would give me the opportunity to reach out
to the rural communities in this way.
Ramiro
Program: CDP
Work
Activities: Help with the integral development of children,
promote family strengthening, help local churches to form values
in their families.
Reason for working with FHI: He felt God’s
call on my life to take the message of the Kingdom of God to the
commun
Anacleto
Program: Comunal Institutional Strengthening
Work Activities: Training of leaders and vigilance
communities regarding laws, train potential leaders as strategists
for their communities, facilitate the elaboration of strategic development
plans at the community and government levels, elaborate training
materials, and promote integral development.
Reason for working with FHI: I identify with FHI’s
vision and am empowered to develop my pastoral ministry in the rural
areas.
Eddy
Program: CDP
Work Activities: Assistance in sponsorship program
(yearly updates, correspondence, organization of activities for
children) as well as trainings of churches, community leaders, and
Child Coalitions (groups of student leaders).
Reason for working with FHI: It’s God’s
will that I be here having the opportunity to transform worldviews
and ideals so that communities can develop.
Eliberto
Program: Income Generation and Natural Resource
Management
Work
Activities: Increase the income levels of community participants
through agriculture, post-harvest, and animal husbandry activities.
Reason
for working with FHI: God has a purpose for my life, serving
the participants, promoting a change in worldview and in so doing,
change the culture in a way that God’s will is fulfilled.
Mario
Program: Health, Water & Sanitation
Work Activities: Family training about preventative
health according to God’s creation
Reason for working with FHI: To improve the lives,
health, and economic conditions of the families of the rural zones.
Edgar
Program: Income Generation and Natural Resource
Management
Work Activities: Transference of agricultural technology,
support for producer organizations, support for the creation of
micro-enterprise projects, support for the improvement of animal
husbandry, training in natural resource management (integrated management
of gulleys), support for community planning and organization.
Reason for working with FHI: I feel sure of God’s
calling on my life to be working in the rural area to help develop
community potential. I worked for a time in the main office but
felt unsettled. I returned to the communities and knew that’s
where I belonged - working directly with the participant.
