Mozambique Information
Welcome to Mozambique-via cyber-space!  Mozambique is a land of hope despite a destructive and burdensome past.  Tired of the Portuguese colonizers, Mozambique finally gained its independence in 1963, only to slip into a civil war fueled by Rhodesia (now called Zimbabwe) and apartheid South African government.  From the ensuing sixteen years of civil war, Mozambique earned a reputation as the poorest country in the world. Not only did its people face the rebuilding of roads, schools, clinics, and demining, but they faced rebuilding trust with each other. Yet despite all this, Mozambique has many advantages. Its people are hard-working and its lands and seas rich with natural resources. Its economy has been one of the fastest growing in the world, even with the recent disasterous flooding.  And, most importantly, God loves Mozambique and desires them to have a rich, abundant life!
