Welcome to Pucallpa in
the jungle of Peru.
Our
jungle office is located in the city of Pucallpa within the Amazon
basin. We work in six slum communities on the outskirts of Pucallpa
as well as six remote river communities.
The key issues facing those living in the jungle communities where we serve are:
- poor health
- lack of health education
- chronic intestinal and stomach infection
- sanitation issues
- no access to clean drinking water
- no running water or sewage system
- lack of job opportunities
- inadequate scholastic education
- chronic malnutrition
- parent abandonment or parental disinterest
- spousal and child abuse
- a lack of community leadership and community identity
Food
for the Hungry
staff are working together with communities to meet these challenges
with the redeeming message of Christ's love, shown in word and
deed. This work is done through various different Projects. To learn more about how you can personally make a positive difference in jungle communities of Peru through the ministry of FHI Peru click here.
