SITUATION OF COMMUNITYFamiliesParents are very much affected by the source of their income. They worry much as to its sufficiency and availability to meet the family needs in terms of food, health and education. Most of the heads of the families are not gainfully employed. Majority also are seasonally employed, others are either casual employees or contractual in nature, thus wage earners could hardly meet there daily family needs. In this case it is a common sigh among husbands and wives," Only through God’s provision can we survive again today!" Economically speaking urban families are dependent on few seasonal job like minor repairs or handyman work, house cleaning or washing clothes in the affluent families, construction works: masonry, carpentry or just plain labor or helper. Children, even in their tender years has to work instead of playtime and study, just to help the families. The average annual per capital income is about P 68,400.00 (US$ 1,360) or less or an average monthly income of P 5,700.00 (US$114). Another difficult challenge facing the families are the regularly increasing cost of living in the urban communities. LeadersAmong the leaders in the community in increasing orders and authorities are: Officers of parents association, officers of homeowners association, community leaders and NGO’s, officers of educational and health institutions and leaders from the city government. The problems they are addressing are the following: physical, intellectual, emotional and health and the peace and order issues. Apathy and indifference, lack of concern and selfish motives are the major hindrances in directing the flow of concern in addressing community problems. In coordination with the programs of both the city and the community authorities and NGO’s leaders in the community solve the needs related to health and sanitation as well as livelihood and income generating activities. Scholarships and educational support for those bonafide and deserving students who do well in their studies. Employment opportunities for those who graduated with honors and commendations. Cash incentives and certificate of recognition for those who help unselfishly in improving the living condition in the community. Through community efforts and networking roadways were paved and improved. Streets were lighted, security detains were installed wells are dogged and constructed, market facilities were provided health and day care centers put up and maintained. Transport system were organized. ChurchesPeople-church parish council and other ecumenical movement was observed to active in the community. Christian-social groups who understood Christ’s teaching are reaching out to uplift the faith of the people through Daily Vacation Church School in Child Development Program, summer training’s and spiritual retreats. There are about a dozen or two people from different churches who are actively involved in the life of the people in the community. The people in the community understood that God is the almighty creator who is the provider and the protector of the people in the community.
