A Story of  Ma. Sheila

Ma. Sheila is the eldest of the 4 sisters. The father is a jeepney driver who earns just enough for the basic needs of the family. The mother is a plain housewife. Although a diligent wife she could not work because of heart problem. The father is the sole bread earner of the family. The health problem of the mother is an added burden to the family.

When Child Development Program (CDP) started the area, a new hope shines for the family especially for Ma. Sheila who really likes to finish school. Before sponsorship she is very shy, weak and afraid to mingle with others. She started in CDP program at the age of 8 1/2.

As CDP child, Ma. Sheila attends the weekend Bible study, recreation activities for socialization and other CDP activities. According to her, that was her first time to read the Bible. Later she attest that through the Bible study she found the TRUTH that is JESUS CHRIST. The CDP Saturday Bible Study helps her faith grows each day. Her enthusiasm to know Jesus grows because of her active participation in Daily Vacation Church School, camping, and values formation sessions. Her active participation in trainings, workshop, seminars developed her skills and ability as a leader and to have a heart to teach the little children. Also, it is not only Ma. Sheila who grew but her whole family. The mother who is actively attending the Bible Study-Values Formation Sessions, training, seminar, and various workshop is now a trainor and an active community leader. Her mother is serving as vice-president of the Parents' Organization of their CDP center. Sheila's father who also met the Lord become supportive to her mother in her role as vice-president. .

Materially, the family is not rich but they are rich with spiritual grace.

"Train up the child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not       depart   from it."             Proverb 22:6

Truly, our labour and your resources extended to Ma. Sheila and family was not in vein, CDP helps changed lives.
