SITUATION OF CHILDREN

Spiritual

Children before sponsorship have no knowledge about the Word of God. They don稚 know how to use/read the Bible. Most families don稚 have a copy of the Bible but are very much interested to have a copy of it.

Intellectual/Vocational

Most parents value highly education of their children. They desire that there children could complete their education from grade school to the university. They believe that only through education that they could be freed from poverty. But sad to say, this aspiration is hindered by poverty. Most of the children could only complete elementary education. At a young age, some children works to help augment income of their family. Some children have delayed education because they need to wait until there parents have enough income to send them to school.

Social/ Moral

The social life of the children evolves at home, school and own community. At a very young age, children are laid open to social and moral problems which caused maladjustment on their personality. The influence of the environment is sometimes stronger especially if parents do not spend much time at home and neglecting to care for their children.

In Bible studies, some children are noted to get attention from their teachers. The reason is because most of them could not received attention from their own parents.

Physical (Health)

Children are unprotected to all disease and oppression in the community. They don稚 have vaccines for common diseases. The supply of vaccines provided to children are very limited. Government hospital in the area are not equipped with good facilities to save lives of children. Private hospitals could hardly be afforded by most poor families.

At home, children eats incomplete diet. Most are contented to eat plenty of rice and little fish. Mothers lack enough information on how to prepare nutritious food.

Emotional

The emotional status of the children is uncertain. Many children are suffering from low self-esteem. The children have difficulty expressing their ideas because at home they are not encouraged to do so.
