Christmas Report
2001
The
longest, most celebrated and awaited season of all . . . Christmas!
It is the time of observing Filipino traditions like "Simbang-Gabi"
(9 days Dawn Service); "Noche-buena" (Christmas eve celebration);
House-to-house visitation; the smell of "puto-bungbong" and
"Bibingka"
(native delicacies only on Christmas time) and exchange gifts.
FHI
and its affiliated churches gave Christmas program to FHI Child Development
Program (CDP) recipient families. The
program was composed of praise and worship, parlor games, presentation numbers
of each area and gift distribution. The pastor preached the message that
Christmas is for all people; both rich and poor; young and old. Christmas is the
celebration of Jesus Christ who came to save ALL people from their sins.
Groceries
distributed to 2,800 FHI families were especially for the "Noche
Buena"
celebration. CDP children received
small gifts such as handkerchief, wallet, apple and oranges.
FHI
was grateful with the gifts received from church members such as ice cream,
hotdogs, candies and gifts for the parlor games to the delight of the children
and their family members.
Added
to the Christmas program FHI conducted gift distribution to 250 non-CDP
families. This year, the recipients were the fishermen folks in the province of Quezon (south of Manila), 100 street children in Kalookan City who lives in
cemetery and 100 resettled families in Bulacan province.
Groceries distributed come from our own CDP families and FHI/Phil. staff.
Each CDP families contributed P20.00 pesos worth of food as contribution.
Sharing has taught our own CDP families the value of giving and what it
means to be a blessing to others.
In
this respect, we would like to thank our National Organizations, CDP sponsors
and all FHI/Phil. donors for the support you've given the whole year through.
Praying that the year ahead would be peaceful and abundant.
"Salamat po."
