Vision of Community ( VoC)

FHI Community Development chooses to work on a community level. To deepen our impact FHI Comunity Development focuses and integrates its ministries by placing teams in targeted communities that are deemed to be needy, receptive, and strategic.

The ultimate call of the community is to give glory to God. To this end FHI Comunity Development facilitates Romanians to develop their communities toward their God given potential. This is helping the community advance towards God’s intentions as revealed in the Scripture.

That is, we desire to see the local community applying Biblical principals in its development. This acknowledges the fact that most communities experience a corruption of what God intended them to be. But as the community conforms to God’s will its corruption will be transformed, God will be glorified, and people’s God-given potential will be fulfilled.

To accomplish this, we focus on three groups. They are: The Local Churches, The Community Leaders, and The Families.

The most important target group is the Church. The local church is God’s chosen vehicle to demonstrate His will. A healthy Biblical Church impacts positively both the local leaders, and the families of the community.

The local Leaders can substantially impact their community as they increasingly understand God’s intentions for their people. The community leaders then can make decisions that positively impact the local families.

The Families from a community are important because they form the base structure of the community. They have a strategic role in the care of the individual, and also in the child’s education and training based on Biblical principles.

FHI Community Development ministers to the community through:

  • National and International Staff: Our goal is to see VoC accomplished by having appropriate people working along side the community bringing in their expertise and passion to see God’s will accomplished. We desire to see our staff develop towards their God-given potential. We envision our staff working best in teams, placed in strategic communities.
  • Training: With churches and community/NGO leaders who have shown an interest in a Biblical community development model, we offer training as to how this can be accomplished. With youth and family members we offer Biblical training.
  • Partners: These are community organizations and local churches who are willing to learn to take specific steps in a Biblical community development process. FHI Community Development will collaborate with and support the local partners in carrying out their roles to accomplish VoC. As the partners grasp the process and have experience in its implementation, FHI Community Development will move from a facilitative relationship towards a relationship of encouragement.
  • Projects/Commodities: Carefully selected projects and/or placed commodities can potentially open doors for future VoC ministries. These are intended to address a felt need a community has identified. The projects and/or commodities will not replace community resources and initiative.

The merit of each ministry will be assessed before, during and after our involvement with a community. It is assessed by the following criteria:

  • Educational Opportunities For VoC
  • Financial Cost
  • Staff Time Requirements
  • Integration
  • Measurable Impact On The Community
